Kiwi companies make up 10 per cent of the fastest growing businesses in the Asia Pacific region, according to Deloitte.

New Zealand had the highest representation per capita on the annual Deloitte Technology Fast 500 Asia Pacific index, with 45 businesses making the cut including eight in the top 100. 

Auckland transport services and technology company EROAD saw the most rapid growth over the last three years of all kiwi companies measured, at 2746 per cent, placing it 10th on the index.

Wellington online electricity retailer PowerKiwi, which is the only independent supplier on Powershop, had grown 1916 per cent. 

Deloitte partner Stephen Nicholas said the strong representation of New Zealand businesses showed that kiwis were among the best technology entrepreneurs. 

"The Technology Fast 500 results illustrate that for innovative Kiwi businesses the relatively small size of the New Zealand market is not a barrier to achieving stellar growth.

"As long as they get their business model right and remain true to their core values, they can compete with the best in the world," Nicholas said.

"Increased digital connectivity and the cloud have levelled the playing field for companies to achieve growth on a global scale and New Zealand companies are particularly adept at capitalising on this technology." 

Cloud computing company GreenButton, also from the capital, had grown 1248 per cent after striking deals with Dell, Microsoft and Pixar. 

Auckland company Konnect Net, which makes medical information and information management systems, had grown 906 per cent. 

Christchurch software development firm Trineo, which grew 769 per cent, was ranked 62 on the index. 

Wellington's Midas Infomedia was in 83rd place after growing 618 per cent. Snipesoft, which works in online marketplace and auction integration and automation, was ranked 93 after it grew 578 per cent. 

There were 60 companies in the index from Australia, 26 from Japan and 71 from South Korea.
