Johnny Depp would "rather swallow a bag of hair" than dance.

The Hollywood actor has appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show alongside his Dark Shadows co-stars Michelle Pfeiffer and Chloë Moretz.

When discussing the art of dance, Depp made no secret of his disdain for expressing himself through movement.

"I fear it more than anything in the world. Doing a film, when it's choreographed and you're a character, it's alright. But in life, I'd rather swallow a bag of hair," he deadpanned to the talk show host.

Moretz - who plays rebellious teenager Carolyn Stoddard in the movie - laughed at Depp's comments. When asked what she thought of her veteran co-star, the 15-year-old actress gushed about the opportunity to work alongside him.

"Yeah, my friends are actually really jealous. When I told them I was doing a movie with Johnny, they were like, 'Oh my God, he's like so cute!' That's crazy!' I was like 'Yeah, he's pretty cool!'" she smiled.

"When I first met him, I was like, 'Oh my God, I'm meeting Johnny Depp,' and I was wearing some sweatpants or something, and I shook his hand and I was like, 'I really like your necklaces.'

"I don't know why I said that."

Moretz also revealed she was "so excited" to work alongside Pfeiffer. The 54-year-old actress is famed for her portrayal of Catwoman in Batman Returns and has joked about still owning certain parts of her sexy outfit.

"I don't [still have the catsuit]. I wish I did. It was an uncomfortable suit, I never wanted to see it again. I foolishly didn't keep it - but I do have the whip," she smiled, before Johnny quipped: "I have the suit."

Director Tim Burton has assembled an all-star cast for Dark Shadows.

The movie, based on the 1966-1971 gothic soap opera of the same name stars Johnny Depp as Barnabas Collins, a 200-year-old vampire and Michelle Pfeiffer as his cousin Elizabeth Collins. The movie opens in theatres tomorrow.
