Only a few hours to go for the Womad Band competition and two bands have generated thousands of votes.

The two favourites have worked up big leads and are now hedging past one another moment by moment. Votes close at 5pm today and by 2pm Auckland band, Beyondsemble led by only 15 votes at a total of 3415. At their heels was Tauranga band Kougar Sistas at 3399.

More than 70 bands vying for the last spot available on the Womad stages for its 2013 festival in Taranaki. While the tour leaders had amassd thousands of votes, other bands had not managed to get one single vote.

The festival will see 300 hundred performers from 21 countries will sing, dance and perform over seven stages at the TSB Bowl of Brooklands from March 15 till 17 next year.
