It's summertime and artists and bands around the country are gearing up for festivals and tours. Today Fat Freddy's Drop Saxophonist Scott Towers tells us what he's looking forward the most and reveals his favourite summer acts.

1. What are you up to this summer?
Well, my attention will be split between finishing Blackbird (the new Fat Freddy's Drop album), renovating my bathroom and trying to catch my first Kingfish.

2. What's your favourite thing about playing summer festivals/tours?
It's actually one of the few times you get to hang out with a large number of your musical buddies all at once. Normally we're spread all over the place so it can be a few months between drinks together.

3. Three things you need at every summer festival/gig:
Dancing shoes - I like it when people get their groove on. Good toilets, or in lieu of that a packet of wet wipes. I'd like to say the sun, but it poured last year and we STILL had an amazing time.

4. The best summer venue in New Zealand and why?
The one where the party people are hanging out in. In all honesty, its the audience and the energy they bring that makes for the best venue.

5. If you're not on stage yourself - who's your favourite summer act?
I love watching The Nudge - I think they are really underrated. And I am a fully paid member of the Rachel Fraser fan club, so Funkommunity has jumped up into my top 5 too. Ladi6... I hear she's got some dope new material she and Parks have been working on in the US, that'll be interesting to see. Actually Shihad totally smash it every single time without fail. Argghhhh.... too many choices!?
