Lindsay Lohan is reportedly "forced to live at home" with her mother Dina due to lack of funds.

The troubled 26-year-old actress is rumoured to be cash poor in the wake of crippling legal fees and taxes.

Lohan has been living primarily in Los Angeles for several years, but is now located in her native New York with her mum.

Apparently the star has no money for a place of her own.

"Lindsay is being forced to live at home with Dina because she can't afford any other options at the moment," a source told Radar Online.

"Lindsay is flat-out broke and can't even afford to rent a two-bedroom apartment in North Hollywood.

"There's simply no way she would pass a credit check right now, and even if she could she wouldn't be able to muster up a security deposit, let alone meet the rent every month."

Lohan, who got into an altercation with her mother at Dina's Long Island home last October, is said to hate her current living situation.

She is apparently feeling the cons of residing with her parent again and is searching for a new place to crash.

"Dina seriously cramps Lindsay's style because she always wants to go out partying with her," the source explained.

"It's embarrassing for Lindsay and she often dodges her mum's calls when she's out. Lindsay is constantly on the prowl these days to snag a new wealthy pal who has an apartment or vacation home she can move into.... rent free of course!"

The troubled actress was in an L.A. court on Wednesday (local time) at a pretrial hearing.

The judge confirmed that Lohan's probation violation will be addressed alongside the misdemeanour charges on March 18.

Lohan could go to jail for over eight months if the judge finds her to be in violation of her probation.
