Created by Timaru man Allan Hawkey - aka Hawkeye - they were a regular feature in the Herald in the 1980s.

Hawkey was a senior manager with the ANZ Bank in Timaru when he offered the Herald the first cartoon, starting an association lasting a number of transfers and 10 years. This selection, from an envelope marked '1989' gives a taste of the topics of the time.
