Group brings home award

Twizel Area School took to the stage in Wellington over Queen's Birthday weekend, bringing home an award.

Emily Carpenter, Liam Stewart, Cain Sleep, Shanon Lloyd and Jessica Tonner were the five pupils performing in the finals of the SGCNZ University of Otago Sheilah Winn Shakespeare Festival.

They won the award for the most co-operative school for their performance of an extract from part three, act one, scene four from Henry VI in the 15-minute section of the competition.

Shanon, Jessica and Cain also co-directed the entry.

Drama teacher Kay Potter said the pupils did very well competing against 46 other entrants, considering the school only has a small number of pupils who take drama.

This is the third year in a row Twizel Area School has performed in the finals.

Craighead Diocesan School also had a group perform in the five-minute extract section.
