Campaign boosts town's business
The Go Geraldine campaign to encourage people to shop local attracted more than 10,000 entries.
Each entry required three stamps on a card. To get a stamp, shoppers had to spend at least $5 in a participating store.
Go Geraldine spokesman Ryan Marsden said the competition's main prize of $2000 was won by Temuka woman Rhonda Taylor.
He said during the 12-week campaign more than $150,000 had been spent locally.
"Business operators thought it was great being able to discuss with their customers the advantages of using local businesses," Marsden said.
He said the competition reinforced to local residents how much they did actually spend locally.
Taylor said she used to live in Geraldine and continued to shop there because she loved the "gorgeous" shops.
