The South Canterbury Drama League is looking for a manager for the first time.
President Kevin Foley said the role will initially be a six-month fixed position with a strong emphasis on making the transition to the league's new premises easier.
"The board is currently strained to do everything and we have so much happening at the Playhouse. We need to have someone to help with wardrobe and costume hire and its transition to the new building."
The position would also require the successful applicant to do marketing.
"We would like the manager to have some sort of marketing expertise and to market the business and get a wider range of people coming to our shows," Foley said. Supporting productions is another duty the manager will be required to fulfil.
The Playhouse, which has been home to the league since the early 1970s, is undergoing extensive reconstruction, involving major alterations to the theatre, auditorium, and wardrobe and costume hire facilities.
The project also involves expanding the backstage area, and significant seismic strengthening.
Foley said there have been a good number of applicants for the job. Applications close on July 5.
