The South Canterbury Hunt Club will be able to keep the traditional format for its ball this Saturday night.
The club booked the Caroline Bay Hall last year but missed out on a liquor licence after applying too late.
However, Sopheze on the Bay, which operates out of the adjacent tea rooms, has been able to extend its liquor licence to cover the ball.
Master of the Hunt Nick Rowley said Sopheze was the club's "white knight".
