A family home in Ashburton has been named the Mid and South Canterbury Region Registered Master Builders 2014 House of the Year.
The supreme award winner was built by Jennian Homes and the Canterbury company also took out a gold award and category win in the New Homes $350,000 to $450,000 category and the Registered Master Builders Craftsmanship Award for the house.
Judges said it was a very liveable home.
"A lot of thought has gone into making the most of the sun, and the workmanship and quality of finish is superb.
"The builder should be commended for his attention to detail. All the internal doors are lacquered. The tiling, carpentry work, fixings and furniture are of a high standard. This is a quality home that will give the owners many years of pleasure - it's a complete package," judges said.
The results were announced at a gala dinner last night at the Ashburton Hotel.
There were seven gold award winners from the region, which will now be assessed alongside gold award winners from across the country to find the National Gold Reserve finalists, to be announced in early September.
National category winners and the Registered Master Builders Supreme Awards for Renovation of the Year and House of the Year will be announced at a gala dinner in Auckland in November.
