Skifields in the region are making the most of the recent drop in temperature and snowfall.
Roundhill Ski Area in Tekapo had 11cm of snow fall on Sunday night.
Manager Simon Murrell said while it wasn't a "game changer" he was happy with what they got. "There wasn't a lot of snow, but we are enjoying what we have."
Murrell said they had about 450 skiers on the mountain yesterday. "It is down but the conditions are perfect for learners and middle level skiers."
Ohau skifield received 15cm of fresh snow overnight, which pleased general manager Mike Neilson.
"It's been an outstanding day - a bluebird day," Neilson said.
With nearly 400 skiers hitting the slopes yesterday, he said it was a great start to the second week of the school holidays. With temperatures expected to drop even further this week, it was ideal for snow-making.
Mt Dobson Skifield was on hold yesterday with the access road closed. On the MetService website Dobson was reported as having received 15cm of snow.
