$20m wharf rebuild begins
A $20 million refurbishment of Timaru's No 2 wharf is in its early stages.
PrimePort chief executive Jeremy Boys said the metal gantry that was used for loading ships with grain from the silos had been substantially removed.
The demolition at the port was part of the Holcim cement project.
". . .[The] rebuild of No 2 wharf, which is expected to commence within the next two months," he said.
Boys said PrimePort is constructing a new wharf with extra elements for $20m, above Holcim's $50m dome and facility it requires for importing cement.
