No line to Clandeboye

Fonterra will not be putting a railway line out to its Clandeboye plant despite the expected jump in its container numbers through the Port of Timaru, a spokesman says.

Last month Kotahi, which is owned by Fonterra and Silver Fern Farms, announced a 10-year deal with the Port of Tauranga.

Its Timaru container facility expected to bring at least 30,000 TEU (20-foot equivalent units) containers within the next year, increasing to more than 80,000 annually.
