Man attacks Timaru cop with table fork
A Timaru police officer was allegedly assaulted with a table fork after a father and son had a "heated exchange" last night.
Constable Jan Gibb said a Timaru man, 41, got into the exchange with his 16-year-old son, causing both his son and his 14-year-old daughter to flee the family home.
Police were called to the house to find the father had barricaded himself inside. Sergeant Ian Howard forced the door open and the father is alleged to have turned on Howard with a table fork, Gibb said.
Howard had scratches on his face and neck with a small cut on his ear.
The man was arrested and faces two charges of assault.
