Public toilets scorched
Twizel police are seeking the public's help in solving an apparent arson in the town's public toilets on Thursday night.
Mackenzie District Council's community facilities manager Grant Nixon said he believe the fire started in a men's toilet cubicle between 8.30pm on Thursday and 6am yesterday.
Constable Joe Rush said police wanted to hear from anyone who may have seen something suspicious in Market Place during that time.
Nixon said a toilet and some fixtures would need to be replaced. Major smoke damage in the toilets would need "a significant clean".
The male toilets remain closed, though the unisex disabled and female toilets are open.
