The worst of winter's weather appears to be easing this week, MetService forecasts suggest.

After a warmer weekend, light winds and moderate temperatures are forecast for the week ahead in Timaru, Oamaru and the Canterbury high country.

A final winter frost is expected in the early hours of Wednesday morning, while temperatures throughout South Canterbury are expected to reach the low teens throughout the week.

A high of 10 degrees Celsius is expected today with a low of 1C overnight.
