Games entrants still need places to stay
There is plenty of room on the sports field, but "not a lot in the inn" for the approaching South Island Masters Games in Timaru.
Organisers of the October event are still looking for accommodation for bigger teams who have registered for the games, but not yet booked.
Games manager Chris Thomas said every week teams are asking for places to stay.
He said that, although good for the moteliers, the accommodation situation for this year's games was "as bad as it has ever been with no room in the inn".
"It's just one of those things, it seems there is a lot going on and it's full."
Finding accommodation for two people was not an issue but, for bigger teams of around 10 people, it was "more difficult".
Thomas said they usually manage to find something, whether a house or holiday home, and had people staying as far out as Temuka and Pleasant Pt. The organisers had been getting the word out via Facebook and email that more accommodation was needed.
Anyone who can spare a three- or four-bedroom house over the weekend of October 17 and 18 is asked to contact Thomas.
