Prestigious award for Geraldine artist

Geraldine artist Henry Lowen-Smith was recently awarded third prize in the Edinburgh Realty Premier Art Awards in Dunedin.
Mr Lowen-Smith, formerly from Ashburton but now residing in Geraldine, has been painting for 50 years, full time since 1978, and is well-known for his high country, farm, and New Zealand scenes.
This prestigious $1000 award will be added to his other accolades two Kelliher Awards, first prize in the Auckland Easter Exhibition and first prize in the Roxburgh Art Awards.
Mr Lowen-Smith is a traditional or realist artist who paints in oils.
He has been a guest artist in exhibitions throughout New Zealand and has paintings in private and corporate collections in 21 countries world wide.
Recently moving to Geraldine he is currently establishing a new gallery at his home which is to open this month.
