Earthrace's silent arrival

Earthrace may have set the world record for the fastest time a powerboat travelled around the globe, but it was going at a more sedate pace when it docked in Timaru yesterday.
It came into port shortly before midday as part of a two-day stopover on its nationwide tour.
Last June, the boat set a world record for a powerboat to circle the globe and did it with renewable biodiesel fuel and a net zero carbon footprint.
The voyage covered 44,000km and took 60 days, 23 hours and 49 minutes, smashing the old record by more than two weeks.
