Boaties are being offered the chance to get to know Lake Tekapo and other people who use it at an open day this Saturday being run by the Lake Tekapo Water Ski Club.
Ski Club president Damon Odey said it was for anyone. "It's just getting people together, really. The main aim is to get as many members, as many new members or any people who are interested and to put a face to the names."
Mr Odey said guidance would be given to people who were unsure how to launch their boats, or who wanted the opportunity to explore the lake and learn from people with experience on it.
Along with improving safety on the lake, Mr Odey said it was also a chance for younger people to get boating skills.
"We're all about getting kids out on the water and teaching them boating skills and we are also about enjoying the lake."
There is a barbecue lunch and other activities on the day, along with a mystery card game with a prize of more than $1000.
The open day starts on Saturday from 10am at the club's lakeside clubrooms and is free for people wanting to go along.
