It could have been guns and roses. Thankfully, they brought their instruments instead.

 The New Zealand Army Band kicked off the Festival of Roses with a performance yesterday lunchtime.

It was to have been held at the Trevor Griffiths Rose Garden, but bad weather pushed the performance inside to the Caroline Bay hall.

This concert will be followed up by two free concerts by Mirage,  from the Christchurch Jazz School, at the Trevor Griffiths Rose Garden on Monday, November 23,  and Friday, November 27, between noon and 1.30pm.
