While they have been a bit quieter in later times, Elvis and Michael Jackson are booked in for guest appearances in the Mill Theatre's latest production.
2 Hot and Spicy co-director Kirsty Peffers said the show was a variety of songs and skits, perfect for unwinding to in the lead-up to Christmas. "It is a variety show, the whole point is the audience has no idea what is happening next.
"The lead up to Christmas is a good time slot for a show that doesn't require any thinking."
The show was a sequel to the original Hot and Spicy in 2005.
"The feedback we had was people loved not knowing what was going to happen next, so we have put together another show with lots of different music and dances. Because it is a sequel we decided to put the `2' in front.
"Elvis makes an appearance and so does Michael Jackson – it is a bit of a tribute show."
Audience members were invited to dress up in a hot and spicy outfit, or as a hot and spicy country. "They might not get dressed at all in keeping with the theme." The show has a cast of 15. The season starts on Thursday, November 26, and ends on Saturday, December 5.
WIN: A double pass for Nov 26. Email, win@timaruherald.co.nz or send in a self- addressed envelope to "The Hot and Spicy competition", PO Box 46, Timaru.
