Serious crash north of Timaru

A three-car collision closed State Highway 1, north of Timaru earlier today.

Emergency services were called to the scene of the crash which happened shortly after 9am near Kennels Rd, Washdyke. Three cars were badly damaged and at least one motorist had to be cut from a vehicle.

Traffic was banked up around the scene while the highway was closed. Traffic was diverted down Kennels Rd and onto the Pleasant Point Highway.
