Two house fires in Waimate
Police guard property
BY JEFF TOLLANRelevant offers
A police guard was this morning outside a Waimate home following the first of two fires in the town.
Firefighters were called to the Meyer St property about 12.45am to find the house fully involved. The scene has been taped off and a police guard was outside the property for several hours this morning. CIB staff from Timaru have been called to investigate the fire, which has gutted the house.
Then, at 6.15am, the fire brigade recieved another call, this time to a High St address where another home was burning, though there was little external damage.
Nobody was hurt in the High St blaze, though it is still unclear if anyone was injured in the Meyer St fire.
