A homage to simplicity watches over Geraldine Library.
People go Round, which was installed over the weekend, is Kaikoura sculptor Ben Foster's entry in the Timaru District Heartland Sculpture Challenge.
The 4.5 metre-high sculpture has blades of human figures which are 95cm long made out of marine-grade aluminium, steel and enamel paint.
"People Go Round utilises stylised human figures to meld sculpture and windmill. With its simple circular motion, People Go Round celebrates the windmill in its most basic form," Foster said.
"It's a homage to the rising popularity of do-it-yourself wind generators and the pursuit of a simpler state of existence."
Foster works primarily in cast metal, inspired by geometric forms from both natural and industrial environments.
The public can vote this week before the Art on the Bay day on Sunday.
Two awards will be up for grabs: the winner of the public choice award will get $8000, with voting to be conducted through The Timaru Herald, and the judges' award is also worth $8000.
