Famous rockers turning heads

Rock star scarecrows are turning heads in Geraldine, all in the name of fundraising.
Twenty-eight scarecrows portraying famous rock stars have been created as part of the Geraldine Kindergarten scarecrow trail.
Families can purchase a map for $5 from the Geraldine i-Site, which guides them through the town to where the scarecrows are located.
Local businesses and residents have taken part in the fundraiser, creating the scarecrows based on a rock star of their choice.
Co-ordinator Pip Goldsbury said the fundraiser, which was a first for the kindergarten, had been a great success. She said the aim of the event was as much about having fun as it was to raise money.
"It's gone fantastically well. Although there's an element of fundraising, it was also about doing it for the community. It's the kindergarten giving back to the community, something fun that encourages people to get out on their bikes or [to go for] a walk and have some good family time as well."
Participants are encouraged to write down the name of the rock star they think each scarecrow represents, which they can submit for the chance to win a prize.
Children at the kindergarten are among the people who have created a rock star scarecrow, choosing to impersonate the popular book character The Wonky Donkey.
Mrs Goldsbury said another scarecrow trail would possibly be organised again next year, but she was unlikely to be involved again because her children will be at primary school.
"I think someone will pick it up and run with it."
The event, designed to coincide with Geraldine Arts and Plants, will end on Sunday.
