Bookarama coming up

20:30, May 07 2012

Bookworms will dive into Temuka later this month for Rotary's annual bookarama.

Books, magazines, CDs, cassettes, records, games and puzzles will fly out the door at bargain prices.

The sale will take place at the St John Ambulance hall on the main street.

Collection boxes for donated items are available at Eddy's Hammer Hardware, Tea Pot Inn, O'Reilly's Food Centre, PGG Wrightson and CRT Temuka.

Temuka Geraldine Rotary president Mike Cotton said it was the second year the club had involved school pupils in setting the event up.

Schools would also benefit from the fundraiser, he said. "As our guys have been getting older and books have been getting heavier we thought it would be good to get schools involved.

"It's good when the pupils come along and give us a hand; the age mix is also good.

"It allows us to interact with senior pupils.

"We also get to know pupils a lot better."

He said some of the funds would also be given to local charities.

"We also get a lot of children's books which we don't actually charge for on the day."

The sale runs on May 18 and 19 between 10am and 4pm.
