The Department of Labour is investigating after a Timaru watersider was injured in an accident at the Port of Timaru this morning.
It is understood the man was taken to Timaru Hospital and has since been discharged.
Port of Timaru chief executive Jeremy Boys said the Port was not directly involved in the accident which happened just before 8am while the Tomi Maru 87 on No 1 wharf was being unloaded.
Mr Boys said the operation was being managed by Timaru Cargo Services, who contacted the Labour Department.
