A Timaru man added 18 convictions to his eight pages of previous convictions in Timaru District Court yesterday.

Dane Joseph O'Neill, 25, pleaded guilty to three charges of burglary, EBA 651 mcg, breaching community work, nine charges of theft, driving while disqualified, intentional damage, theft of a motor vehicle, burglary and failing to answer bail.

Judge John Macdonald said O'Neill's latest offending took place between December 18, 2011 and March 22 this year.

"There is a significant amount of reparation owing and no way you will be able to meet that. You have eight pages of previous convictions and a number of offences for dishonesty."

In January 2010, O'Neill had also been sentenced to 15 months in prison. "Your alcohol and drug use is problematic and you pose a high risk of re-offending," Judge Macdonald said. He sentenced O'Neill to two years and three months' jail.
