Today's planned meeting between Eagle Air's general manager Carrie Hurihanganui and South Canterbury business representatives has been cancelled due to fog.

Mrs Hurihanganui was due to meet Aoraki Development Business and Tourism and chamber of commerce representatives this afternoon to discuss issues including the substantial number of cancelled flights to and from Timaru in recent months.

Eagle Air operates air services from 22 locations around the country for Air New Zealand.

Air New Zealand spokesperson Tracey Palmer said heavy fog in Blenheim this morning meant the flight from Blenheim to Wellington was cancelled.

That aircraft was to have been used on the mid morning Wellington-Timaru service Mrs Hurihanganui had been booked on.At this stage she is looking at rescheduling her Timaru visit for July 2.
