A "good haul" of stolen items recovered after a search warrant was executed has Timaru police smiling.

The search was carried out recently after police received "very reliable" information.

Thirty-four items were recovered, although some are yet to be proven as stolen. They included a lawnmower, laptops, a flat-screen television, decoders and jewellery. Drug-related paraphernalia was also recovered.

The thefts occurred in the last month.

Police are hoping to find the owners of three rings, including a five-diamond gold engagement ring, and an antique silver fob watch. A backpack, the lawnmower, laptop and Vodafone modem are also yet to be claimed.

The owner of the television has been tracked down, along with a radar detector stolen from Winton, and a backpack.

Senior Constable Bill Phiskie said it was a "very successful" search warrant.

"Especially when it's property relating to specific burglaries and theft ex cars.

"It's superb."
