THE Timaru members of Altrusa International will have a room in their name in the new Hospice South Canterbury building.

The service club recently donated $10,000 to the hospice to furnish one of the seven new rooms.

Altrusa fundraising committee chairperson Jenette Borrell said the money was raised mostly through two events, an evening with "easy-peasy" chef Jo Seagar, and an evening with Kiwi Kitchen cook Richard Till.

Both events were well supported by the community.

The cheque was presented at the club's monthly programme meeting recently but members were yesterday having a browse through the new rooms before patients and staff move in today.

The original block will now be refurbished and an official opening of the new premises will be next year.
