NZ's finest to speak in city
Timaru will host inspirational speakers this month when New Zealander of the Year winners visit as part of a nationwide tour.
The event, which is open to the public, will be held on September 21 at the Timaru Girls' High School Nora Dickie Hall at 4pm.
Speakers include 2012 New Zealand Local Hero of the Year Henare O'Keefe, of Hastings, 2012 Young New Zealander of the Year Sam Johnson, of Christchurch, 2011 New Zealand Local Hero of the Year Billy Graham, of Lower Hutt, and Timaru's own Rachel Tomkinson - a 2012 Local Hero medal recipient.
Mrs Tomkinson's daughter Jenna was diagnosed with 24 food allergies and severe eczema.
After much research Mrs Tomkinson found unprocessed food with no MSG provided the best results and Jenna is now cured.
Mrs Tomkinson now shares her experience, and has transformed the lives of families throughout the country.
Mr Johnson will speak of his experience following the devastating Canterbury earthquakes when he mobilised the Student Volunteer Army, and his vision for the future.
There will also be a performance by Jeremy Redmore of Midnight Youth.
