An investigation into the reported harassment of a leopard seal on Caroline Bay has resulted in four people receiving formal warnings.
The investigation followed an incident in August when two dogs, allegedly encouraged by their owners, had chased the seal into the water.
Conservation Department biodiversity ranger Steve Harraway confirmed at the time DOC was following inquiries and waiting on further information from police, who were also alerted to the incident.
DOC had been provided with video footage of the alleged harassment. Yesterday, he said four people had been sent warning letters.
