A new business venture was launched last week in the streets of Temuka.
It's BJ's Food Cart, owned and operated by Brony Trusler and now open Thursdays and Fridays from 8.30am to 1.30pm.
It's a family operation, with Ms Trusler frequently working alongside her daughter in the kitchen. Her son purpose-built the cart to meet her new business' needs.
The cart might be new, but Ms Trusler said she had years of experience in food service, having started in the field in the 1970s and worked in several locations around New Zealand.
"I love coming into a business and building it up, making something successful out of it," she said.
Now she's put that experience to work creating quality homemade food items for BJ's Food Cart customers to enjoy.
"There's a lot of healthy options," Ms Trusler said. "No fried food, and all scratch baking." She's not aiming to compete with other Temuka eateries, but rather to offer something different to complement what's already there.
In addition to its weekly hours, BJ's Food Cart can also be found at some special events around Temuka, including Sunday's RSA Temuka Market Day.
Ms Trusler added the food cart to an already-lengthy list of enterprises - including managing the RSA market and running the temuka.net.nz website.
"Temuka is a wonderful community and I like to help get the word out about how great it is."
