The driver of a car involved in a fatal accident north of Washdyke on Saturday remained in a serious but stable condition in Timaru Hospital's intensive care unit last night, a hospital spokesperson told the Herald.

Bradley Suddens, 26, was thrown from his northbound vehicle in the crash at the intersection of State Highway 1 and Divan Rd and is in an induced coma in the hospital. His pregnant wife, Lesley, 24, died at the scene.
