A former Christchurch man has been appointed to head Timaru's new aquatic centre.
Craig Motley, head coach of athletics and fitness at Ravenswood School for Girls in Sydney, will take up the role as the Timaru District Council's recreation facilities manager on December 10.
The role includes responsibility for the management and business performance of the aquatic centre, the district's other pools and the SBS Events Centre.
Mr Motley had been based at QEII Park in Christchurch as the programme and activities leader (northern area) for the Christchurch City Council before the Christchurch earthquakes.
Before his QEII role he man- aged the aquatics team at the Pioneer Leisure Centre in Christchurch.
He has a masters of management degree, endorsed sport business management, and a bachelor of physical education degree.
Mr Motley is married with three young children.
The recreational facilities manager's role was established in February last year with the appointment of Gary Easthope.
He resigned less than a month after the complex opened.
