A pair of "tubers" sparked an emergency callout on the Ashburton River last night when their tube turned up without them on it.
The pair, a woman, 20, and the other person, age and sex unknown, had arranged to meet friends 3km down stream from their starting point.
When their tube turned up at 7.30pm without them, their friends alerted police. The Westpac rescue helicopter was on standby, but was stood down after the pair were found walking on the river bank.
