Last-minute flurry to ensure fete's success
Hundreds of hours of work will pay off for the organisers of the Geraldine Summer Fete today.
It has been a busy week for event co-ordinator Deanna Mackenzie, who has been organising the fete since March. The final preparations had fallen into place and the fete, being held for the third time, was on target to be successful, she said.
"It is always busy getting the last little bits done."
However, there was nothing to worry about, Mrs MacKenzie said. "It's going to be a perfect day."
About 140 stalls will be at the event today at Stover Farm, on State Highway 72, with everything from clothes to garden supplies for sale. A range of new artists, including a sculptor and photographers, will also showcase their works.
Mrs MacKenzie said she hoped a large number of people would make the most of the event and that it would match last year's turnout of 1200 people.
