The Temuka Pakeke Lions Club have announced local winners in the first round of the international peace poster competition held annually by Lions International.

The club received 36 entries from Temuka schools. Of those, first place was awarded to Elijah Hotene, Arowhenua Maori School, second place to Samantha Kerr-Sisikefu, Opihi College, and third place to Tehoro Awhina Merirata Te Rahui-Harris, Arowhenua Maori School.

The local winners' posters go on to the national competition in Wellington, where they will be judged alongside other winning entries from Lions clubs around New Zealand.

A national winner is selected in Wellington, and their artwork goes on to compete in the international round where it is judged against entries sponsored by other Lions clubs worldwide.
