Performers are adding the finishing touches to Geraldine's latest production, Rock On.
The retro-themed show, by Geraldine Players, will take to the stage at Geraldine Primary School from November 29, following months of preparation.
Stage director Alice Sollis said getting the production on to the stage had been a fun process. She said one of the most enjoyable aspects was working with a strong group of singers and performers.
"We cast a show that needed energy and this cast have not only worked hard, but radiate with sheer joy in what they are doing."
Rock On is a tribute to the 1970s and 1980s. The idea for the show developed after Ms Sollis directed Nunsense for the Geraldine Players in 2010.
"The players approached me again to direct a musical and I pitched the idea to them.
"Next we were lucky to get well-known South Canterbury performer Sharleyne Diamond on board to look after the music and we suddenly had a great team with huge ideas."
She said the audience would be treated to more than 30 songs from those eras, performed by a "young and not so young" generation of performers.
"We (also) have two very special comperes for the show who depict the very essence of the 70s and 80s.
"They are a show in themselves."
Rock On runs over six days, with the last performance on December 8.
