A 9-year-old boy was found with injuries to his face in the Holme Station Bridge area yesterday, and Timaru police are asking for public help to uncover what happened.
The boy was taken to Timaru Hospital after he was found by a passer-by about 5pm. He was uncommunicative and had not spoken to police as of this morning.
The boy lives in the Waimataitai section of Timaru and was wearing an Oceanview Heights School uniform when he was found. Police said they don't yet know how the boy came to be at the bridge, kilometres away from his home and school.
Anyone who might have seen the boy, especially between 3.30pm and 5pm, is asked to contact Timaru police on (03) 687 9808.
