Possibility of funds
South Canterbury is in line for funding in this year's Community Development Scheme handout.
Nine communities throughout New Zealand will receive $80,000 each over three years, with Mackenzie and Timaru among them.
The Community Development Scheme aims to build on local strengths and address local issues, Community and Voluntary Sector Minister Jo Goodhew said.
"Through the Community Development Scheme, communities get the help and support they need to help themselves."
The fund helps projects and enables organisations to employ a community development worker.
"Organisations must have the proven capability and procedures to deliver and manage the project effectively," Mrs Goodhew said.
Applications can be found at communitymatters.govt.nz and close on March 20, 2013.
