Singing it's praises: Teschemakers Chapel in Oamaru has been selected for the Waimate Theatre Company Christmas production due it's great acoustics.

The Waimate Theatre Company held a Christmas concert in the Teschemakers Chapel at Oamaru at the weekend.

The company had been rehearsing for several weeks under the baton of musical director John Botting.

Mr Botting has been the musical director for many of the company's shows and is a member of the New Zealand Male Choir.

He said the performance started with a medley of carols and finished with a singalong that included audience members.

"It was a wonderful space to sing in because of the great acoustics," he said. It was the first time the performance had been held at Teschemakers.

The singers were accompanied by pianist Lorraine Young. She has played the piano for the company many times as well as in schools and for various organisations.

As well as a full choir singing, there were some solos and duets to add variety.
