Christmas cheer and revelry at Mistletoe Market
Twizel will be getting into the Christmas spirit early, as the Mistletoe Market takes place this weekend.
More than 60 stalls will be on display, and co-organiser Coralie Reid said proceeds would go towards the local kindergarten and early learning centre.
"We raised more than $4000 last year. It's our main fundraiser, and it's such a great event for the community. It was started by some parents on the kindergarten committee 29 years ago, and it's just grown from there," she said.
"We've got businesses from Aoraki/Mt Cook to Omarama with stalls, there's been a great effort from the community."
Last year, more than 2500 people attended the event.
Mrs Reid said the group were also holding fundraising auctions on Trade Me in conjunction with the main event, with prizes ranging from a horse trek to a Glacier Explorers boat trip.
"We've tried to do a few different things this year, but we will still have the parade down the main street, and there will be a host of free entertainment on the day," Mrs Reid said.
"There will also be the ‘my true love bid for me auction' and a magic show for the kids."
Local artists will also be selling their work.
The event takes place tomorrow outside the Twizel Events Centre.
