Parade rings in the Christmas season
Organisers impressed with turnout
Timaru's Santa parade thrilled thousands of children packed into Stafford St on Saturday afternoon.
The weather joined into the spirit, holding off from rain, as 35 community groups and floats made their way up Stafford St to Caroline Bay.
The parade was led off by an impressive traction engine and finished with the big man in red everyone was waiting for. Parade organiser Deb Still was impressed by the turnout and effort organisations had put into their floats.
@Heart were judged best float with the South Canterbury Roller Skating Club runners-ups.
Santa then made an appearance on the Soundshell to take part in a small concert and lolly scramble.
