The sun is out, and the water is warm.
CBay's 50 metre outdoor pool opened to the public this morning for the first time since its $300,000 revamp.
''Some of the people were so excited they were shaking,'' council community services manager Sharon Matson said of the early morning swimmers' reaction to the upgraded facility.
Members of the training squad also took a dip in the outdoor pool once they finished their training session at 7.30am.
The pool's opening hours will depend on the weather, but it is intended it will be open from 5.30am to 7pm Monday to Friday, and from 7am to 7pm weekdays and public holidays.
Entry to the outdoor pool is through the main CBay entrance, with the swim admission price covering both the indoor and outdoor pools.
A public pool party is being arranged for Sunday to celebrate the reopening of the outdoor pool.
