Broadband back online
Telecom broadband is back on in Timaru this morning after an overnight system upgrade went wrong.
Telecom spokeswoman Jo Jalfon said services were back on about 8.15am after problems started at 1am following a routine system upgrade.
''We're confident that it's stabilised; if people have problems they should try restarting their modems. We apologise for the inconvenience; it's caused by people testing.''
Some Timaru Herald Facebook users were reporting problems with their internet connections and Eftpos this morning.
A spokesperson for bank-owned payments operator Paymark confirmed its system had been affected by the external connectivity issue.
Calls to Eftpos New Zealand were answered with this recorded message: "We are aware of external processing problems currently impacting on some Eftpos transactions. The Eftpos New Zealand network is operating normally and not experiencing any reported issues."
