Suppression has been lifted on the name of the man accused of assaulting a 9-year-old schoolboy found distressed and injured at Holme Station Bridge near Timaru on November 15.
Matthew John Krouse, 26, of Timaru, appeared in the Timaru District Court yesterday on a charge of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
He was remanded with no plea to February 12 for a post-committal conference.
At his first appearance on November 21, Judge Joanna Maze ordered a psychiatric assessment to consider his fitness to stand trial.
At that appearance his counsel J Lovely said the accused's recollection of events was sketchy.
His arrest followed an alleged abduction of a 9-year-old, who was found at Holme Station Bridge, more than 15 kilometres from Timaru by road.
The boy was found at 4.20pm, after leaving Oceanview Heights School at 3pm.
